With the rise of social media websites, such as Twitter, people are finding ways to promote different causes, awareness, events, and thoughts. One of these newly promoted ideas are the rise of webisodes and web-series. Though the concept may not be entirely new, I have just sort of  discovered them.

Dating in the Middle Ages (http://datinginthemiddleages.com and follow them on Twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/datingwebseries ) is one that has caught my interest and shows much promise. Though the show’s characters are in their “middle ages” you don’t have to be middle aged in order to enjoy the show. The concept is and can be appreciated at all ages.  The show is centered around the character of Samantha (think Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw, meet’s the entire cast of Glee, and any hopeless romantic) as she searches for her Cary Grant, An Affair to Remember anyone? , aka her dream man.

Growing up we all had our crushes (& still do for some) of what our lives would be like & who we’d be seen socially with…who were some of your crushes growing up? Was he a ruggedly handsome cowboy type; who rode, roped and wrangled? Wore his Stetson hat pulled low over his eyes and that soft Southern/Midwestern drawl that makes your toes curl and your knees weak? Or was he the tall, dark, and handsome with that hint of mystery that we find in Gothic romances dime novels.Or there is always the classic knight in shining armor ready to sweep his princess/fair maiden trapped in the tower. What girl wouldn’t want to be swept of into the sunset of a trusty stead or white horse?

Samantha ponders these as she searches for her ideal man. She like any woman looking for “the one” tries a plethora of methods: blind dates, dating services (i.e. match makers, on-line dating), and not to forget the “mutual” friend. While her experiences are dramatized for the comedic web-series, they are relatable and any woman of any age or relationship status can commiserate as well as nod-and-smile.

Our dream men are out there…and you’ll find them when you least expect it.
